Free Choice

In school reading and out of reading are different from each other. I like in school reading better, because it pushed me to read, because I know I have to read. Out of school reading I don’t like because I get side tracked, and I stop reading the book. Out of school reading for me is hard, because I have so many distractions that keep me from reading. While in school reading keeps me focused, I nothing that will keep me from reading the book. I can read out side of school as long as the book I am reading is interesting otherwise I can’t read it. Also with in school reading I can read the book because I know that I might have a worksheet that is due, or have to take a quiz or test on it. I think that with out of school reading I could push myself to read by doing some of things that I do in school to help me read. Like I could read out of school and give myself a quiz or by having someone ask me with the book is about that I’m reading. I can also push myself to read it by telling myself I have to do it, and that if I don’t do it I can get way behind on everything that needs to be done. If I space the chapters out in my book I can also make sure that I read it so I can still in track with the number of pages I need to read.

The Borrowers Afield

In the book the Borrowers, the Borrowers lose their home and become homeless because a rat catcher. I am going to explain how they changed during from the beginning of the book to the end. In the beginning  of the book the borrowers are happy people that have everything a family they love, a house they love, and everything that you could ever ask for. They are living life like nothing can go wrong, during the middle of the book a rat catchers comes and makes them lose their home. From that point on they must learn how to adjust to being homeless and trying to find a new house. They act like they don’t ever want to try and make a new home, and they can’t do anything. The outside world is a real challenge for them because they haven’t experience it before. They have to change there attitude from thinking they are untouchable to thinking that they are touchable. They also have to deal with learning how to survive in the wild because they never had to do it, but now they have a “I can do this attitude  They have to deal with the threats of birds, moths, field mice, and even the cold weather. As they journey on they realized that the outside world of their new home is better then their old home inside a house. They also discover that the outside world of there new home is full with more drama, joy, and people they’d ever imaged.

Free Choice

I enjoy reading but it’s sometimes hard to read because either the book is boring or it gets my attention and then I lose my attention because either it becomes boring or either I can’t relate to the book. I have to read books that get my attention from the beinginning, or it have to be a book that I can relate to. The hate list I can’t really relate to because I have never experience anything like that before but I can image something like that happening, it also gets my attention because when I first started reading it, it made me want to keep reading on to find out what happens. I’m a strong reader and I can sit down and read a whole book in one day, I’m a little book worm, and at first it felt weird how I could just read a whole book but then I felt nice being able to read a whole book and know what happen at the end. In middle school and in high school I wasn’t able to do that because they pick the book for us and the book they picked for us wasn’t the book that I wanted to read, so when it came time to read the book I would read maybe the first and second chapters and the back of the book to see what was going one and then listen to what others was saying about the book to understand what was going on, and I would take notes so when the test came I would pass them.

Guided Response

In the book Hate List, I’m going to be talking about Valerie and how she has changed so far in the book. In the beginning she is just sitting at home recovering from her injury, and she doesn’t go to any of the celebrations that the school is giving her for saving their school and for stopping the shooting. As school starts to draw near she starts to thinking about not going back to school. I respect that she had the courage to go back to the same school that think she is the enemy, but to here she doesn’t know what to think. In the middle of the book she starts to change and realized that by her going back to school she is showing everyone that she is not ashamed to go back and get a education, and that even though she may have played a part in the shooting she is not letting it stop her from living her life the way she wants it to be, and by also living her life she wanted it to be before the shooting. She has changed a lot because she gain the courage back and she stop letting the things that was so little to her before the shooting become a big thing to her in her life. She also learned that she had to change the way she thought about life because Nick is not around anymore to help her thru her problems but if she ask for help she can have her problems solved just like Nick helped her fix the problems before.

Hate List

I’m reading the book Hate List, and so far it’s really good. It starts off tell the news report about what they seen at the school and how they think things happen. It then goes into the interview of what the kids seen happen. By just reading the first couple of chapters of the book it seem like it going to be a good book. As you first start reading the book you can really put yourself in their shoes and see how they actually felt, and it makes you feel scared because it makes you wonder how you would react if this type of thing happen to you while you were at school. I can’t image something like this happening at my high school, just thinking about something like these it make me wonder how I would react if this really did happen. I feel sorry for Valerie because she doesn’t know if she is the hero or villain. In my eyes she is both, she is the hero who saved girl that she hates the most and she is the villain also because she made the list with her boyfriend. I don’t think I could go back to a school where I know I played a part in what happen at school, because I know that everyone there would hate me for what happen. It would be so hard for me to learn and just act normal because I would always know that people would be talking about me behind my back. This book is really interesting and I can’t wait to read on and figure out what happens next.

I So Don't Do Mysteries

The book I So Don’t Do Mysteries, it’s about a girl who is asked by her friend to help her figure out who stole her favorite bracelet and to also figure out why they broke it. As they get closer to figuring out who did it along the way they also discover things that they wish they would have never found out it get to the point to where they have to be careful around friends not to say the wrong things. Also little do they know is that one of their friends (they don’t know which one) is telling everyone what they are saying and telling the person who stole the bracelet everything too. As they continue on with the search they find the bracelet broke and wonder why, as the put the bracelet together to try and figure out why it was broke they discover that the bracelet held a secret that if it fell into the wrong hands could be very bad and dangerous. I like this book because it keeps you guessing and it like you are part of the search. This book also made my look at my friends to see if they really were my true friends. It made me think about what I would do if I found out one of my friend stole from me and didn’t have the guts to tell me, this book really gets you to think about your own personal life to see how you would react if all this would happen in your life.

Camp Confidential (Grace's Twist)

In the book camp confidential it is about a girl whose parents send her to camp to see if she can gain some confidence. The quote in the book that really jumps out to me is “Always stay focused on something you want and it will happen”. I really like that quote because it shows that by staying positive and focused things you want in life will happen for you. I listen to that quote because it helps me realized that by staying focused and positive that I can do anything I want and it helps me realized that I came to far now to turn around I’m in college now and by staying focused I been getting good grade. In the end of the book the girl does gain confidence, I’m also like that girl because it seems like every year I gain more and more confidence to know that I can do anything I want as long as I keep at it and keep a clear mind to know that I should never ever give up. This quote also mean that we have confidence that we gain more and more of everyday and that we have confidence that we need to use.
